Your best was apparently insufficient.

You’ve spent years being responsible, reasonable, accommodating, and occasionally pretending to give a fuck about things that absolutely did not deserve one. You’ve compromised. You’ve communicated. You’ve “taken the high road.”

The Solitary Isle Bomber Jacket is for those who have finally discovered that having standards is wonderful until you realize how few people meet them—including yourself.

You’ve made questionable choices with the confidence of a man who had absolutely no business making decisions. You’ve trusted people who should have come with warning labels. You’ve ignored obvious red flags because apparently hindsight is the only fucking thing you’ve ever been consistently good at.

And yet here you are.

Older. Wiser.

Still making the occasional catastrophic decision, but now with enough experience to recognize exactly how stupid it is while you’re doing it.

You don’t need motivation. You need people to stop creating problems and then wandering over to you with the expression of someone who has just discovered consequences.

You don’t want to “network.” You want everyone to go home.

You don’t want to “make memories.” You’d settle for making it through the week without developing a new expense, obligation, or reason to dislike someone.

You’re not cynical.

Cynicism requires imagination.

You’ve simply been paying attention.
